The heroes tracks down the man (or monster?) responsible for the attempt on von Siegen's life and force a showdown, leading to a moment of heroism for Raz. Letta encounters a friendly cat. Adolf doesn't believe in vampires, but does discover a mysterious parcel in his saddlebag.

The miles and the days fly by as the heroes ride east, but not before setting up a militia in a bandit-plagued village. In Leipzig, three rare arcane tomes are found for sale, and Adolf's friends are pranked. Upon arrival in Poland, clues to the location of the legendary Bog Knight are sought.
